Homework Hotline for the week of
March 8, 2010
General Information

Students should have a book for reading with them in school every day and should have a book at home for independent reading each night.

Advisory journals are every Tuesday. Journals should be two pages in length and will be counted as a grade for LA.

Please be sure you child has the necessary school supplies in order to function effectively in their classes: pencils, pens, notebook paper, erasers, sticky note pad (see also, Silver Team supply list on website

CMT testing continues this week! Make sure you get enough rest and you eat your breakfast!

Math

We will begin working with 'Comparing and Scaling' this week.

Social Studies

We will continue our unit on Latin America this week.

We are working on a map of Latin America. Students have time to complete the map in class. There is also extra-credit; complete a physical map of Latin America.

Language Arts

Every day- independent reading; please record on monthly reading log (this is addition to book club reading)

Every month- for every book you read, do a mini-project (from back of the reading log)

Tonight- if you have not yet done so, finish the essay re-write

Art

Last week of art for the quarter. Students are back in Tech 3/8/10. One-Point Perspective projects and all late work due Friday 3/5/10!.

Science

We had to postpone the science assessment for the genetic unit. The students took a quiz this week,so please check their notebook for grade. The unit assessment will be given next Friday - March 12th. Notebooks will also be collected on that day.

We have started the human body unit by doing an inquiry into body organization. Students are planning an experiment they will do durng the unit for their project.
